Metamorphosis, music notation, 2015
How can I transform a number in such a way that it will lead to a specific colour, music score and other notations? Metamorphosis consists of a series of works based on the Arabic numbers 0 to 9. A number refers to mathematics and is also part of linguistics. As such, a number can be translated without losing its value. Translations and the conversion to self-chosen systems results in an image in statu nascendi, a constant metamorphosis of the image as the process continues, resulting in colour images, line notations and music scores.
The following numeral systems of a selection of non-European languages are used: 1 Thai, 2 Khmer, 3 Tamil, 4 Hangul, 5 Indian, 6 Bengali, 7 Chinese, 8 Tibetan, 9 Japanese and 10 Eastern Arabic.
